Manic Focus

Manic Focus is the musical conception of John “JmaC” McCarten that breaks the bounds of the typical electronic music realm. Being classically trained on piano at an early age, his musical talents have brought him through the realms of hip-hop beats and electronic music, having now evolved into the dynamic, bass-induced sounds of Manic Focus. A Minnesota native and recent transplant to Chicago, this producer is now blowing up the EDM music scene and gaining a huge following.

Manic Focus isn’t your typical electronic dance music. His first album, Definition of the Rhythm, provides a broad array of musical creations, from energized hip-hop hits to tranquil grooves with funky flow. His dark bass lines and popping beats drive the tracks along, while spellbinding melodies and carefully-chosen vocal samples entrance the listener. The essence of Manic Focus lies within his unique production, weaving together rhythms and effects to create sheer masterpieces.

His second album, Expanding Mind, showcases how Manic Focus is broadening his sound, veering from the murky depths of heavy bass music toward a funky, bass-laden dance vibe. Also dipping into the realms of house and drum & bass music, Manic Focus is exploring a world of new sounds and producing pure musical magic. To accompany the single, “Circles”, he premiered his first ever music video, featuring the world-famous Hula Hoop artist, Lisa Lottie, produced by Digital Skylight. This album demonstrates his incredible creativity in mixing all genres, as his musical ability evolves.

Having finished a 12 show run with Big Gigantic and Kill Paris, finished a mini-tour with GRiZ and having played at Coachella Music Festival, Manic Focus is far from slowing down and is quickly becoming one of the top, must-see performers on the electronic music scene.

Marvel Years

Cory Wythe, the producer and guitarist better known as Marvel Years, has been making waves within the electro-soul hip-hop community. In just a short period of time, his progression has become impossible to ignore. Much more than your average DJ/producer, Marvel Years is an incredible guitarist that shreds well beyond his years. His approach to blending electronic beats and shredding soulful guitar on his original tracks and remixes creates a sound that is a unique hybrid of EDM combing glitch, retro-funk, soul, jazz and hip-hop. In the wake of his creation leaves listeners with the irresistible urge to get up and move.

Not only have the fans picked up on Marvel Years, he has also caught the attention of other prominent artists. His very first-ever live performance supporting Pretty Lights in Boston, MA (July 2013) has only been followed with an impressive amount of success and opportunities. In August 2013 he made a surprise guest appearance performing two of his tracks along side Mikey Thunder at Pretty Lights sold out Red Rocks show. Later that year, he was invited to hit the road on a multi-week bus tour as support for GRiZ’s Rebal Era Tour. Then, in the fall of 2013, Cory was offered an opportunity to do an official remix for Pretty Lights – “Where I’m Trying To Go” that was released on December 10 on A Color Map of the Sun Remixes.

Gaining wide notoriety from EDM blogs and social media, Marvel Years is a kid with a dream with the talent and the drive to make big moves. His releases, impossible not to love, are primed and ready to help you forget your troubles and enter into a happier state of mind. Keep your eye on this fresh artist who has those smooth funky grooves on lock and become marveled yourself.
