Danny Wood

A seasoned veteran of the music industry, actually the only world he’s ever known since he was fifteen years of age, yet they still call him a ͞kid.͟ The boyish grin is still evident however, and he’s in top physical shape – unlike many of his contemporaries raised in showbiz who slid down the path into drugs and self destruction, Danny Wood maintains a strict diet, a healthy lifestyle, rigorous workout schedule, and is a proud single father of four children. A founding and current member of New Kids On The Block, Danny has spent the past seven years on the road with NKOTB after the band got back together following a 15 year hiatus. The band has been active as part of a package tour with Nelly and TLC, and before that the band toured with Lady Gaga, Backstreet Boys, Natasha Bedingfield and Boyz II Men.

Danny’s mom Betty had a profound influence on his life and career, and when she passed away from a long bout with breast cancer in 1999, he was devastated. When NKOTB reformed shortly thereafter, Danny created a foundation in her name called ͞Remember Betty,͟ whose mission is to help minimize the financial burden associated with breast cancer for patients and survivors so that they can focus on recovery and quality of life. A single divorced dad for nine years now, Danny’s main focus remains on his children and the foundation.

When he’s not on the road, Danny’s central passion is songwriting and recording his own music. What began as solitary song (͞Shine͟) inspired by his Mom’s memory, soon blossomed into a very personal 17 track album with lyrics that pour out like the pages of a diary. The main motivation for the new album was to raise money for the foundation in his mother’s name, with all songs completely written and produced by himself. The new album, entitled ͞Look At Me,͟ reveals the inner Danny Wood with his trials, tribulations and ultimately hope, laid bare. The soon to be released first single and video, the title track ͞Look At Me,͟ is a soulful rock ballad that is far removed from the music of NKOTB that he is best known for –rather, the entire album paints a picture of a solo artist whose time may well be here. Danny’s music is much like the man behind it, a passionate and heartfelt affair from start to finish.
